Upload WAV, MP3 or FLAC. Trace reads the audio structure and checks available provenance and metadata.
Forensic audio signals are compared and mapped across the track. Trace builds a spectrogram and identifies localized evidence regions.
Your report combines provenance, master-level signals and timeline evidence. Click the waveform to hear the regions Trace is referring to.
Where deeper examination is useful, stem-level analysis can separately examine vocals, drums, bass and other elements.
Trace is a forensic screening tool. It reports characteristics and evidence found in the submitted audio; it is not proof of origin. Results remain available in My Scans.

A generated vocal over human instrumentation raises a different question from an entirely generated song. A master-level label cannot describe every contribution.

A musician records the instruments and uses a generated vocal. Another writes the song but develops an AI-generated accompaniment. Both tracks involve AI, yet their production histories are different.
A single yes-or-no label cannot explain those contributions. Before interpreting a scan, decide what question you are trying to answer: whether AI was used anywhere, which element was generated, or what evidence is present in the delivered file.
Rigaud and colleagues’ 2026 preprint, Detection of AI-generated stems within hybrid human-AI music, studies controlled mixtures of human and generated vocals and accompaniment. It illustrates why detecting a mixed track and attributing a generated component are different problems.
Its setting is limited: two broad components and simulated hybrids, rather than a validation of every commercial generator, genre or finished master. It does not establish the origin of any particular artist’s release.
Several elements can overlap in a flagged region. The timeline locates measurements in the master; it does not automatically assign them to the singer, a drum sample or a background texture.
Evidence coverage is consequently a measure across time. It does not count generated instruments or estimate the proportion of creative labour performed by software.
For an AI-assisted production, keep a short record of what happened. Which material came from a generator? Which parts were recorded or composed separately? What was edited, arranged or replaced? Which exports belong to the final version?
These are production descriptions. They can be useful even when a detector finds no significant signals, because the absence of a finding does not establish the absence of AI use.
A report can identify findings in a submitted master and help you inspect them. Stronger attribution needs additional evidence, such as original sources and a documented production history.
TRACE’s screening results should be read within that scope. Research into hybrid tracks motivates further investigation; it is not a claim that a master scan can already reconstruct every ingredient.
An explainer is educational guidance. Test notes describe documented experiments; neither format certifies an individual track.
Explore the signals, then read them in context.

Adding human instruments changes a mix—not its history. Learn why audible masking, watermark detection and AI audio evidence are different questions.

ai musicmusic productionTRACE is currently in testing. This page outlines the current service. Final purchase terms and privacy information will be published before payments and public launch.
TRACE screens submitted audio for provenance, metadata and measurements associated with AI-generated material. A result is not proof of who created a track. Ordinary production and processing may explain suspicious measurements, and a scan may miss AI-generated material.
Only upload audio you have permission to submit. Saved scans are accessed through your signed-in account. An identical upload in your own account can open its saved report for free; a new analysis requires confirmation of its displayed credit cost.
Credit purchases are not yet enabled. Launch packs are €9 for 10 credits, €19 for 25 credits and €39 for 60 credits. One credit covers one completed master scan; failed processing does not consume a credit. Purchased credits will be valid for 12 months from purchase, with no subscription or automatic renewal. Final purchase and refund terms will be published before checkout opens.
Audio is stored to support saved-report playback and is automatically deleted 30 days after a completed scan. The report remains in My Scans after the audio expires. You can delete a scan earlier at any time; deleting a scan removes its saved report, stored audio and playback copy, and revokes its report invitations. A fuller privacy policy will be published before public launch.
